Shaped internal shutters

We completed one of our more unusual shutters installations last week. The Picture shows the arched doorway. This is one house of a new developement of mews houses in Stratford upon Avon. The two middle sections open inwards so we advised the customer that shutters fitted directly to each door unit would be the best solution.

The doors still operate freely and the shutter units also open for extra light when needed.

To make this type of shutter we made full size templates of each door unit and these were sent to the manufacturer for make up. We arrange for a cut out for the door handle. The shutters are made in painted basswood with 64mm slats in Marshmallow white.

Unlike curtains, shutters can be engineered to perfectly fit almost any shape of window, this includes arches, portholes and patio doors.

There are 4 main types of shutters

• Full height shutters – covering the whole window
• Tier on tier shutters – same as full height but with separate lower and upper sections
• Cafe shutters – covering only the bottom half of the window
• Shaped shutters – for arches, portholes and triangles

These can be made from a range of different woods. They can be painted or stained to fit any colour or finish you are planning in your home. For example we have a range of 12 whites and creams to try and get the colour match perfect.
